My Philosophy

Your birth your way

I often hear expecting moms nervous to express their fears and concerns about labor and birth. Once they have a chance I have learned that there are often unexpressed fears. Fears that they will be judged for being apprehensive of pain. Fear to set a goal because once hearing another view it becomes evident that it can so easily be changed by things out of their control. Most importantly sometimes there is a fear of failure, and whatever that failure means to them.

I believe wholeheartedly that there is no failure in birth. It is my philosophy that a woman’s labor and birth are entirely hers. It is comprised not only of her hopes of what it will be but also of the growth that she goes through in aiming to achieve that. I believe that it is a combination of what she and her baby experience physically and emotionally and the relationship that grows from that. Most importantly I believe that it is something that can not be done alone. Pregnancy, labor and birth require unlimited support, unrestrained love and unyielding strength. It is my goal and hope to create and inspire those things.

My Story

I have had the unique experience of three very different pregnancies, labors and deliveries. I have labored and delivered in a Birth Center, at home, and in a hospital. Each with three very different practitioners. I have had healthy pregnancies that were smooth sailing and I have had preeclampsia. I have had my water break naturally, I have been induced medically and have gone past 42 weeks.

Each of these completely different and diverse experiences gave me a rounded and dynamic view of what pregnancy, labor and childbirth can be and most of all what they should be.

After  a somewhat traumatic experience with my first child I realized that who I delivered with and how they treated me was far more important than anything else I thought I wanted. It became more important to me that I was supported than where or how I delivered.

During my second pregnancy and after countless hours of research, reading and questions, I discovered that caring practitioners and supportive care was not impossible to find!

I found myself realizing that I did not need to compromise on my hopes and goals for labor and my subsequent deliveries became experiences that made me strong and confident as a mother and as a woman.

The love and care that was shown to me by the Midwife and Doctor who cared for and delivered my second and third babies inspired me and set me on the path that inevitably lead to my passion in ensuring others had the birth and labor that they wanted and that they deserved.
